Christmas Season 2024/2025: The Fourth Day of Christmas - Post Holiday Shopping

 Saturday, December 28, 2024

The Joe and Noel Post Holiday Shopping Adventure was postponed slightly this this year due to my not being here on Boxing Day. We started the day beffore lunch today by heading to Anthony Scornavacco Antiques before lunch.

They weren't doing half off but I ended up getting this fantastic belsnickle Santa anyway. He's a nice shiny purple and has some kind of real animal fur for a beard.

He goes very well with the other purple Belsnickel Santa I got at Anthony Scornavacco Antiques (formerly Nakashian O'Neil) earlier this holiday season.

After Anthony Scornavacco we stopped for lunch at Red Rabbit on Grand Avenue and then stopped at the gift shop at the J. J. Hill House on Summit Avenue. Turns out they didn't have a lot of holiday merchandise  and they weren't even doing half off.

I still have another week off so I stopped by Stogies on Grand to get stocked up on cigars.

Also stopped at Gypsy Moon. Now. they werer doing half off and you can see the bunches of stuff I don't need but hey it's Christmas and it's 50% off.

It was a balmy 42 degrees when I got home from shopping and the sun was shining. Perfect day for a cigar.

Checked the temp for Phoenix just for kicks. Only a 25 degree difference.
Dale got home from a bike ride shortly after I got home from shopping with Noel. Stepped outside and Lit up a Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur. Loved it.

Chili for dinner.  It was delicious. We watched Christmas in Connecticut while eating and I had some eggnog spiked with a little Tanqueray gin for dessert.

The 9th Day of Christmas: 9 Ladies Dancing

Took down the Belsnickles in the dining room...

...to make room for these.

The manger scene.

It all looks nice by candlelight.

Holiday Season 2023 - 7 Days to Go

Monday, December 18, 2023

Countdown to Christmas - 7 Days

I love waking up on Monday mornings during break and being fully aware that I don't have to go to work.

Dale and I lounged about for quite a while this morning. I had the cat on my lap a good chunk of the time.

I found the Cozy Christmas Coffee Cafe on YouTube and it played some Christmas piano jazz. Very relaxing.

Got the rest of the Belsnickles set up.

AND I got the lights on the tree. The LED lights give off a much cooler light than the old fashioned white lights I just got rid off. I'd still be using those if they hadn't conked out. These'll have to do.

After getting a little lunch we went to Southdale, which, by the way, is a shadow of its former self.

I picked up a turtleneck which looks fabulous. It should. It was very expensive.

Dinner at Warren's tonight. We made Old Fashionds to sip on before dinner. Warren made a delicious pot pie and we brought a red velvet roulade from Lunds Byerly's for dessert.

Holiday Season 2021 - Sylvester the Mouser

Wednesday, December 22, 2021

Went down to pull the Belsnickels out of the coal room only to find a broken bowl. I wonder if Sylvester knocked it over while chasing a mouse. I did find mouse droppings in there a week or so ago.

Anyway, set out the Belsnickles but still need to do some touch ups.

Holiday Season 2019 - Ramsey House and Hill House

Saturday, December 14, 2019

Back in St. Paul from Afton, Noel and I stopped at the Alexander Ramsey House gift shop. I found a beautiful red Belsnickle Santa,

a charming snowman,

and Christmas book of Christmas writing.

We next stopped at the James J. Hill House pop-up gift shop. They had a lot of similar things.

The house it kitty-corner from the St. Paul Cathedral which was looking brilliant in the late afternoon winter light.

Shopping with Noel. Found another treasure at the Bibelot going-out-of-business sale.
