Advent 2019 - Third Sunday

Sunday, December 15, 2019

Alyn invited us to the Christmas pageant at her church. Ellis was the narrator. There's no way any of them could mess up because, even if they did, they'd be so adorable it wouldn't matter.

Alyn took us to brunch after the service at the Louisiana Cafe. I had the biscuits and gravy and it was awesome.

Christmas Season 2017/2018 - Holiday Brunch

Sunday, December 31, 2017

Woke up to a very cold morning.
Fortunately, the sunshine was brilliant and the wind was low.

Alyn invited us to her church to hear Ellis play the organ. He played Angels We Have Heard on High during the offertory and he did a great job.

There was a carol sing prior to the service and one of the songs was In the Bleak Midwinter which is one of my favorites.
I always enjoy visiting Alyn's church. The pastor's great and there are lots of friendly folks in the congregation.  The Christmas spirit was still very much evident.

After the service, Alyn and Ellis had us over to their house for a brunch of waffles, sausage, mini quiche, and fresh fruit. They gave us an oatmeal stout bar of soap fashioned with a hedgehog mold due to the name of our house being Hedgehog Hollow.

Advent 2015 - Third Sunday of Advent

Sunday, December 13, 2015

We took a break from our church so as to see our godson Ellis play in his church's annual Christmas pageant. It's pretty hard for little kids in cute costumes to mess up even if they mess up. They're just too adorable. Ellis was a lamb just like last year. He also had a piano solo and played O Come All Ye Faithful. He did a great job. No mistakes and because we sat up close we could see he was keeping time with his feet. He and Alyn were tickled we could make it.

Holiday Season 2014 - Ellis' Christmas Pageant

Godson Ellis' Christmas production this morning. It was incredibly cute and funny. It was the traditional story with some funny anachronisms. Ellis played a sheep and also performed Hark, The Herald Angels Sing as a piano solo. He was great. Children's Christmas pageants are as down home and sweet as small town 4th of July parades.

New Year's Eve 2013 - Ellis

To keep their son Ellis busy while entertaining, Alyn and Chris put him to work cutting out animal pictures (and for a 5-year old he cut quite well) from some old wall calendars. He then gluied them on paper. He picked out the lion cub for me and the blue jay for Dale.

Third Sunday of Advent 2013 - Ellis's Christmas Pageant

From Dale's blog:

"Joe and I went to our Godson, Ellis's, church today. It was the children's Christmas pageant. Ellis was a moo-cow. He know most of the words to the songs and he lowed with the rest of the cattle. This kid loves performing and being the center of attention. He may be a handful when he gets older. But what a cute kid."

After the service we all went to brunch at Pizza Luce on Selby.

Third Sunday of Advent 2013

Dale and I attended the 10:30 service at St. Paul Reformation Lutheran Church this morning with our friends Alyn and Chris and their son Ellis.
