Epiphany 2024: De-Christmasing

Saturday, January 6, 2024

Epiphany

Started the process of de-Christmasing this morning. Got the ornaments off the tree.

Took down the red lights and eventually the white ones too.

Got together with Noel for lunch and shopping. This was not like one our post holiday shopping adventures of the past. We used to  hit the stores a day or two after Christmas for the sales but not this year.  In fact, I didn't even buy anything. However, Noel got me a couple of sweet little gifts. Actually these were more like white elephants since she's downsizing from her vast amounts of Christmas stuff. Still, very sweet and I like them very much.

Christmastide 2020: The 2nd Day of Christmas - The Joe and Noel Post-Holiday Shopping Adventure That Wasn't

Saturday, December 26, 2020

Noel and I had planned on doing our post holiday shopping adventure today but when I got ahold of her this morning it turns out she was sick overnight and still not feeling well. One of the smaller ways it feels like 2020 just keeps on taking. It's like it's flipping us off by messing with traditions.

Holiday Season 2019 - Breakfast with Santa at Jax and More

Saturday, December 7, 2019

Cindi and Maggie invited us to Breakfast with Santa at Jax in Nordeast Minneapolis. We met them and their kids there this morning. The event was held in the upstairs banquet room.

Dale snapped this picture of me with Santa.

Cindi snapped this picture of me with Dale.

Met Noel for lunch and did some holiday shopping afterward. We found some retro glass ornaments from Germany at Tangletown Gardens. Very nice but quite pricey.

I've started to set out some holiday decor. The first things out of their boxes were the snowmen.

For a nightcap tonight I had some Bailey's Irish Cream.

Third Day of Christmas - Taking Down the Tree

Thursday, December 27, 2018

This is, as far as I know, the earliest I've taken down the Christmas tree. EVER. I got the tree, ornaments, and most of the tchotchkes down while Dale was out running errands. I wasn't hard to do and didn't take nearly as long as usual as I didn't set as much out this year. When Dale returned he made a comment about how empty the house looked. It surprised me because he usually wants the visual (to him) over-stimulation to go away sooner than later. I told him Christmas would just have to live on in his heart.

Holiday 2018 - The Tree is Decorated

Monday, December 17, 2018

The tree is up. I've decided to decorate it only with balls this year to make the take down easier.

Holiday Season 2016 - Little Bear

This little bear is one of my oldest possessions although this is the first time I've set him out specifically for Christmas. I find him to be quite sweet. I asked Mom how old I was when she gave him to me and she said I was about 4 years old.

Glass Ornaments

Added a few more ornaments to the tree tonight. My friend Noel got me interested in collecting glass ornaments quite a few years back.
