Holiday Season 2014 - The Tree Is Up

I put up the tree today while listening to Perry Como. Tomorrow I'll work on getting the lights on. It's not feeling very Christmas-y outside as it got up to 48 degrees today. In other holiday season news, Noel and I went to lunch today at W.A. Frost in St. Paul. We sat at a table near the fire and it was really quite warm. We laughed at how we used to think the lyrics to Winter Wonderland were "later on we'll perspire as we sit by the fire..." For dessert we had a pear cake with crumbled chestnuts. I don't think I've ever had chestnuts before. They were quite tasty.

Christmas Season 2012/2013 - Twelfth Night

Dale and I combined celebrating Twelfth Night and an early anniversary by going to Vincent.  I started with a Tanqueray martini.  For a first course I had the cream of chestnut soup.  I believe it was chicken based and it was divine.  Dale had a salad.  For dinner Dale had fish and I had cassoulet.  For dessert Dale had a cheese plate and I had the "three creams" - a custard, pot de creme, and creme brulee.  Vincent never disappoints.  Happy 19th, Dale!
