MLK Weekend 2023 - Christmistletoe and A Nice Day for a Walk
MLK Weekend 2023 - Staying In. A Lot
Saturday, January 16, 2023
I had a fever of 102.1 on Wednesday. It dropped to normal by the evening. Dale, on the other hand, had a fever of 101 on Wednesday.
Tonight Dale and I made a quiche and watched Auntie Mame.
We had banana chocolate swirl cake from Lunds.

Epiphany 2023 - Summary
Friday, January 6, 2023
The kids next door, Ada and Bran, have been having a lot of fun with the snow. This photo doesn't very well show what they've done. There's a couple of snow people and a fort.
Christmas Season 2022/2023 - 12th Day of Christmas: Snow Day!
Thursday, January 5, 2023
The above photo was taken early this afternoon. However, all Christmas tchotchkes were down by the end of the day. I'm generally not suspicious but with all the political malarky going on in this country I'm not taking ANY chances by having this stuff up beyond Epiphany.
Got the 3 Kings in the manger scene briefly but they too were down by the end of the day.
Another day of distance learning due to the snow so I got in my first cigar of the New Year today while on my lunch hour.
This past Christmas season was unusually subdued this year and I'm not quite sure why.

Christmas Season 2022/2023 - 11th Day of Christmas: Snow Day!
Wednesday, January 4, 2022
Well, not quite a traditional snow day. The new normal with remote learning is that there are no more days off from school when the snowfall makes travel impossible. It's now distance learning. Anyway, it was a break from the routine.
Anyway, it's been snowing since yesterday so it was nice to be able to gradually keep up with the shoveling.
Also had time to keep up with the news of Republicans embarrassing themselves trying to elect a House Speaker.
Along with shoveling I got the roof raked.
Dale and I had a nice roulade for dessert tonight.

Christmas Season 2022/2023 - 9th Day of Christmas: Decorating
Monday, January 2, 2023
Haven't done as much decorating as usual this year and that's okay. That said, I pulled out the feather tree today.
Christmas Season 2022/2023 - 8th Day of Christmas: New Year's Day
Sunday, January 1, 2023
Happy New Year! Read the first reading at church this morning. Dale and I went to brunch at Pittsburg Blue out at the Galleria. Quiet day otherwise. So glad to have tomorrow off to ease back into work.
Christmas Season 2022/2023 - 7th Day of Christmas: NYE Cigar
Christmas Season 2022/2023 - 7th Day of Christmas: NYE with Mike and Charisse
Friday, December 31, 2022
Mike and Charisse had us over for dinner tonight. They served fondue which was a blast since Mom hasn't done it for a couple years now.
We had cocktails by the fireplace to start.
Dinner include and oil fondue with shrimp and beef, a cheese fondue with bread and ham, and chocolate fondue with fruit, potato chips, and some pizzelles which we brought over.
After dinner we moved back to the fireplace and engaged in some more wonderful conversation.
Christmas Season 2022/2023 - 7th Day of Christmas: Hanging with Sylvester
Friday, December 31, 2022
Mike and Charisse invited us over for New Year's Eve tonight. Having a Bloody Mary before heading over. Dale and I are doing a dry-January starting tomorrow so I'm trying to finish up the little bit of vodka I have left.
